Love First. Strengths-Based.

David's approach to the therapeutic process is based on the belief that we are all inherently good. Each of us has individual talents, innate strengths and core values - gifts that help to define our unique imperfection. We also seek to enjoy the meaningful connections in our lives that strengthen and support us; bonds that are forged in the personal, social, family and peer relationships that comprise our support network.

Addiction often suppresses these strengths and erodes our important relationships, only adding to our fear, shame and remorse and thus, perpetuating a destructive cycle. Key to David's approach is helping clients and their loved ones:

  • Learn how brain chemistry and functioning have been altered by substances

  • Understand how those changes have compromised judgement, insight and decision making

  • Recognize the behaviors and consequences that resulted from those decisions, and

  • Realign their strengths so as to honor the important people in their lives and heal those relationships.

With proven success working with hundreds of men and women for over 30 years, David uses a unique approach to help clients identify the people and things that are most important to them. It involves exploring how our strengths can bring unique value to key relationships, creating realistic and measurable actions that lead us closer to our recovery goals, monitoring progress as we seek to reconnect with the valuable resources in our lives and making the necessary adjustments required to remain strong - and sober .

It's an innovative model that incorporates what David calls a Personal Recovery Index.
